Kingston Data Traveler 2000
Kingston is one of the leading memory products manufacturer in the world and they recently announced the new Kingston Data Traveler 2000 which is a USB drive that was designed specifically with the needs of global security IT professionals and corporate businesses in mind.
It stands out through the full disk AES 256-bit data encryption done in XTS mode and this was done directly on the drive, so no software or hardware drivers are required for it, making it useful no matter on the operating system you are using.
An alphanumeric keypad locks the drive with a number or word combination and every time the drive is removed from the host device the Kingston Data Traveler 2000 auto-locks. It there are ten invalid login attempts the encryption key and password are deleted, making it impossible to recover the data, so you won’t be able to break this device through brute force.
The cover of the drive is made of aluminum to resist to water or dust and the encryption uses Datalock Technology from ClevX, LLC, bringing innovative solutions for the security of mobile devices. The dimensions with the sleeve are of 80mm x 20mm x 10.5mm and the price for the Kingston Data Traveler 2000 wasn’t released so far.
It is compatible with Windows 10, 8.1, 7 and Vista, Mac OS X v. 10.8.x+, Linux v. 2.6.x+, Chrome OS and Android. The interface used by Kingston Data Traveler 2000 is USB 3.1 Gen. 1 and you can get it with capacities of 16GB, 32GB or 64GB with an USB 3.1 speed that depends on the overall capacity of the drive.
The USB Flash Drive will only be released in the first quarter of 2016, the developers didn’t release more specific information, but it looks like an amazing device with a three-year warranty and free live technical support in case you need it.
