OLED Alienware 13
The OLED Alienware 13 was presented at the CES 2016 and it is the first gaming laptop in the world with an OLED display. Aside from this advantage the Alienware 13 is quite similar to the previous models and they will be available for purchase since mid-April 2016 starting at $1,499.
The OLED technology makes the laptop a lot more efficient when compared to the traditional LCD displays due to the lower latency and since there is no need for backlighting. The refresh rate of the display will be of one millisecond according to the developers and that is quite an improvement from the typical 16 milliseconds that you have on laptop displays.
Although other laptops with OLED technology came out before, none was designed specifically for gaming and the OLED screens have been reserved to smartphones due to the high price and TVs also started using the technology. The graphics stand out better through the darker blacks and at the CES 2016 panel Alienware tested the device with the Ultra Street Fighter IV.
There will be two models available, one in red and another in black. When it comes to the specs the OLED Alienware 13 boasts an Intel Core i7-6500U processor with 16GB or RAM and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M graphics card with 4GB VRAM as the top of the line.
At the same booth Alienware also presented their Oculus certified system which is the Alienware X51 and it will cost you $1,200 as the starting price. For that sum you get an Intel Core i5-6400 CPU, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 GPU and 8GB of RAM and you will still have to put an additional $599 to get the Oculus Rift, so you are standing at a total of $1,800 to have a PC that is ready for VR.
